Women's Studies

I am Michelle Borror, and I am a sophmore at OU. I love to read, write, and criticize the writings of others; thus, I am an English major. I have a growing interest in women's issues thanks to my roommates and the Norman Women's Collective, which urged me to enroll in Intro to Women's Studies. I'm really excited to learn more about issues facing women in the past and present, and I wish to help the cause of women in any way I can.

Some questions I wish to answer this semester are:

Why is feminism such a contraversial word?
Does religion too often play a role in the oppression of women?
How can groups of people (e.g. feminists) change cultural ideas?
What are women's main issues in present day?
What companies and foundations are pro-women?

Hopefully, we'll discuss some of those questions, hehe.
